RHODES Mini Travel Guide
As the school holidays are upon us and for some, they're already here! My husband and I are facing our first proper six-week summer break as parents, we are already thinking about what we are going to do. Honestly, I'm hoping to be more prepared next year, but this holiday prep has me reflecting on our amazing Easter trip to Greece earlier this year.
I love sharing not just my inspiration, but also practical things to do and places to go. With kids travel does look a little different so we opted for an all-inclusive stay at a five-star family resort in Rhodes. If there's one thing our family values, it's definitely creating memories together.
Stay
We stayed at the Helea Family Beach Resort and it was just what we needed, it couldn't have been more ideal for families. There was so much to keep our little one entertained, and also for us get some much needed rest.
Eat
Usually, we're all about exploring local eateries when we travel, but on this trip, we happily stayed within the resort. And there were plenty of delicious options! Beyond the main restaurant, there are three other a ’la carte restaurants Tsouka, Matsi, and Laerma.
We loved the street food hub, and Amuda, the kebab place, quickly became our absolute favourite. There's also a fantastic crepe shop (another favourite) and an ice cream stand. Thanks to Greece, we're now masters of making gyros at home! On our last night, we even enjoyed a complimentary à la carte meal at the Italian restaurant Matsi, all booked easily via their app. Everything we ate was so fresh and delicious.
Do
This resort is as child-friendly as it gets. From the incredible water park, to the stage with daily performances, there's always something happening. My daughter was over the moon when she got to see Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
It's not just for the kids though; adults are well catered for too. The games room is brilliant for both kids and adults so after dinner we would find ourselves here and they even have an escape room! We never missed our daily visit to the private beach—there were always more than enough beds to choose from.
We went out for some paddle boating in the sea, which was so fun and such a great memory as a family. There are also plenty of things to do around the island if you choose to explore, which gives us another great reason to go back.
Interior Inspiration
As you've probably gathered by now, travel is a huge source of inspiration for me. The Grecian aesthetic at the resort was stunning all those beautiful neutrals, the sharp contrasts, the wall panelling and bespoke joinery with LED lights. And that view? It was all a massive source of inspiration for me.
The colour palette, especially, has influenced my current project with its walnut tones and a warm, contrasting colour scheme. Even little things like the handy robe, slippers, and beach bag in the room were lovely details that go a long way. And getting to be woken up by the sun each morning? How absolutely beautiful is that?
So, if you're ever wondering about a fantastic place to go as a family, I honestly can't recommend this resort enough. This was my very first stay at an all-inclusive resort, and it was truly stunning. With the added convenience of on-site shops and other amenities, it made for a wonderfully relaxing and inspiring trip.
